Big Bend National Park entrance fee is $30 for 15 passengers using a non-commercial vehicle, for private vehicles $30, motorists $25, and individual $15; all the passes are valid for seven days. However, you don’t need to go alone; the government has given free passes to all students who wish to visit the national park.

From Interstate 10, take State Highway 385 south to Fort Stockton and into Marathon. From Marathon, drive 40 miles south on State Highway 385 to the north entrance of Big Bend National Park. Drive straight for 26 miles to Park Headquarters at Panther Junction. Turn left and proceed for 20 miles to the Rio Grande Village area.
The fort is open daily (except Christmas Day) from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Visit the Big Bend Ranch State Park website to learn about exploring the park. This campsite, NM1, is the perfect spot to relax and get a great practice in. NM1 is one of the park's many backcountry, car camp sites. You will need to get a permit at Panther Junction, and it will cost $12, along with your park entrance fee. Once permit is obtained, take the main road east about 5 or 6 miles to Glen Springs Road and turn left.
Day 1: Fort Worth – Big Bend NP. Leave no later than 6 a.m., and it will be better if you can leave around 5.
